Despite having great success for his role as Andy in the highly successful sitcom Parks and Recreations at the start of his career, it took Chris Pratt along while to be a leading man in Hollywood.

While he did have small roles in movies like Moneyball, 10 years, and The Five Year Engagement, it wasn't till his role in the critically claimed Dark Thirty that his rise lot stardom begin.

The actor had gone through a big physical transformation that took the internet by storm and helped him achieve leading man status.

This of course led to the actor finding himself becoming an international superstar following the massive success of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy.

During a recent interview with Starless, the actor recalled the struggles he went through during his early years and how he bombed his auditions for Star Trek and Avatar.

    The actor recalled

"I know I’ve made light of actors feeling rejection or whatever, but I didn’t come close [to getting the role]. In fact, I came, it was so not close that it was really demoralizing and made me actually truly question my potential or what I should be aiming for as an actor. For both of those, I remember that the role was written like ‘He comes in,’ it was maybe the Avatar."

"I just remember reading this character description and it was like ‘he walks in and he has the it factor.’ So I was feeling, you know, a little bit overweight, I wasn’t really taking care of myself physically, I was in a relationship where we were, you know, drinking a lot,"

He continued "I walked in, and I started sweating immediately, and it was a casting assistant. She just looked at me and she just pressed record and she just started doing her stuff while I was reading with her other casting assistant. I saw that there was literally nothing about my audition that was compelling at all."

Despite these early failures the actor has managed to be part of some of the most sucessfull movie franchises, the most recent success being Jurassic World: Dominion which has grossed over 745 million worldwide.

The actor will next be seen in Thor: Love and Thunder as Star-Lord in an extended cameo.

Chris Pratt is currently shooting the third volume of The Guardians of the Galaxy.
