Here's what Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has that Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra still doesn't despite a record breaking opening

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra has secured a thunderous opening at the box office on its opening day and finally beaten the record so far held by Kartik Aaryan led Bhool Bulaiyaa 2. The movie which marks the beginning of the ‘Astraverse’ is Bollywood’s most expensive film to date and still has a long way to go to be called hit. However, the promising start seems to have finally assured the industry that not all is lost.

Brahmastra earned Rs. 35-36 crores nett. Domestically on Day 1 beating Kartik’s film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 , which so far carried the record of being 2022’s biggest Bollywood opener, by a large margin. Kartik’s film which released in May had secured an opening of Rs. 14.11 crores which was Bollywood’s best this year till Brahmastra released in cinemas on Friday.

However, there is still one place where a massive film like Brahmastra has failed to beat Kartik Aaryan’s film – in ratings. Brahmastra has below average ratings of 4.9 on the aggregator site while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is rated 5.7, which is strictly average.

Brahmastra has been the talk of the town since its release for several reasons including its story, performances, dialogues, cameos and the impending sequel. As far as reviews go, the movie has failed to leave a lasting impression on the critics who have all applauded Ayan Mukherjee’s vision but didn’t feel that the movie is gripping enough as an entertainer.

The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy in key roles apart from Ranbir and Alia. Brahmastra took five years to make and has faced several comparisons to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lord of the Rings franchise as well as the Star Wars films. A sequel to the film has been confirmed but the leads of the project are yet to announced. According to reports, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will reportedly take over in Part 2.
