'I just wrote the final scene for Wonder Woman 3' director Patty Jenkins gives major update on the future of the franchise

Despite the major changes happening at Warner Brothers after its merger with Discovery, it seems that DC fans can rejoice as Patty Jenkins revealed in a recent interview at the Matera Film Festival.

The second entry in the franchise Wonder Woman 1984 received poor reviews from critics and fans and even failed to break even at the box-office, but it became the most-watched straight-to-streaming film of 2020.

Even though the third installment was announced in 2019, we haven't received any updates on the project till now, according to insiders the upcoming movie will be set in the present and will follow Diana's modern-day adventures.

Patty Jenkins spoke at the Matera Film Festival and talked about the project as well as revealed that the studio is asking her to continue making more Wonder Woman movies.

"I just wrote last week the final scene for Wonder Woman 3 and I thought, 'I'd be interested to see what happens next," she went on to say

"They have asked us to think of ways to do more and it accidentally happens, but you never know. I have a lot of other films I'm excited to do as well."

Alongside the movie, the studio has already greenlit a spinoff series for HBO Max with Patty Jenkins serving as a producer.

That will focus on the Island of Themyscira after Diana left the island and will bridge the gap between Wonder Woman 1984 and Wonder Woman 3.

With the script for the movie complete, we are sure to learn more details about the third installment and its spinoff in the coming months.
