With the production of the highly anticipated fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise having wrapped earlier this year, we are getting steady updates on the movie.

After the recent release of new pictures, we now have a few plot details about the movie from scriptwriter Jez Butterworth.

Ina recent exclusive interview with Empire, Jez Butterworth who co-wrote the script revealed that Indian Jones will be taking on his arch-rivals The Nazis in the upcoming movie.

In the first two installments of the franchise, Indy stopped the Nazis from using The Arc of the Covenant and The Holy Grail as weapons in World War 2.

In the interview Butterworthsaid that the movie will be set on the year 1969 and also reveald a few plot details

“The simple fact is that the moon-landing program was run by a bunch of ex-Nazis," said Jez Butterworth, co-writer of the script. “How ‘ex’ they are is the question. And it gets up Indy’s nose. It’s not just that the model of what a hero is has completely changed. It’s not just that they’re looking for something where there’s nothing up there – it’s like Reno without the gambling, or whatever his line is. But the people that are behind it are, you know, his sworn enemies.”

It had already been confirmed that Harrison Ford will be de-aged in certain scenes in the movie, most likely a few flashback sequences and that this movie like the last installment will acknowledge the character's age.

The Empire article also revealed that there will be a big action set piece set at the ticker-tape parade of 1969 in New York City, which celebrated the launch and success of the Apollo 11 mission.

With the movie set to release in 2023, we can expect to see the first trailer for the movie soon.

Joining Harrison Ford the rest of the cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and John Rhys-Davies.

Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
