Is Vikram the latest star to join director Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Thalapathy 67'?

The highly anticipated Thalapathy 67 , which will mark Thalapthy Vijay's entry into the Lokesh Kanagaraj cinematic universe(LCU), is getting bigger and bigger every day.

The movie already boasts a massive star cast that along with Vijay includes Trisha, Vishal, and Sanjay Dutt, but every day there are rumors that some of the biggest actors in the country will be part of the project as well.

Actors like Rakshit Shetty, Arjun Sarja, and Prithviraj are believed to be a part of the cast of the movie, with many having cameos, that will play bigger roles in future installments in the LCU.

The latest addition to the list is none other than National Award-winning actor Vikram , who is said to have a cameo in the movie.

The Pooniyen Selvam actor is expected to play a role similar to what Suriya played in the movie Vikram.

There is also a strong possibility of the movie having cameos from actors like Kamal Hassan, Fahadh Faasil, and Karthi, who played major roles in the first two installments of the LCU.

The movie will be the third installment in the franchise following 2019's Kaithi which starred Karthi and 2022s Vikram which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.

The franchise has grossed around 530 crores at the box office. Thalapathy 67 also marks the second collaboration between Lokesh and Vijay after 2021's Master.

While plot details remain under wraps there is a rumor saying that the movie will be based on the 2005 Hollywood action movie 'A History of Violence'.

Thapalathy 67 is currently in production and expected to release in the latter half of 2023.

Meanwhile, Vijay is enjoying the success of his release of the new year, 'Varisu', which has become the first movie of 2023 to gross 200 crores at the box office.

As for Vikram, the actor is gearing up for the release of Pooniyen Selvam 2, the highly anticipated sequel to one of the biggest hits of 2022.

Pooniyen Selvam 2 will be released worldwide on 28 April 2023.
