Jailer - Actor Vasanth Ravi claims Rajinikanth's character in the movie will surprise fans

Actor Vasanth Ravi, who will play a prominent role in Rajinikanth's upcoming Jailer revealed that the superstar's character in the movie will be different than anything the actor has ever done.

In Jailer Rajinikanth plays the role of a Muthuvel Pandian the warden of the notorious prison. However, the plot of the movie remains under wraps.

Recently director Nelson has confirmed that superstar Rajinikanth has wrapped up his portions for the highly anticipated Jailer.

The movie is expected to enter post-production this May. The movie will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with director Nelson, The director's last movie was Beast which starred Vijay in the lead role.

The release of Jailer was pushed back recently to avoid clashing at the box office with director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Pooniyen Selvam 2.

Jailer will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, the movie also marks the actor's Tamil debut.

Director Nelson has also roped in Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for a cameo in the movie. The project was announced by Sun Pictures in February and production officially started in July with shooting taking place in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore.

Recently Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has also joined the cast of the movie. This will be the second time Rajinikanth and Jackie Shroff will be working together after the 1987 Bollywood movie 'Uttar Dakshin'.

In the movie, Rajinikanth plays the role of a prison warden Muthuvel Pandian will have to protect his prison after a group of armed thugs breaks in to rescue their captured leader.

The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, and Vinayakan.

Jailer will be dubbed in all major Indian languages and is expected to hit theaters worldwide in August.

According to a report director, Lokesh Kanagaraj will be directing superstar Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 171. The movie is expected to go on floors in the latter half of 2023.
