Jailer- The Rajinikanth starrer is eyeing a September theatrical release
Jailer marks the superstar's first collaboration with director Nelson.
According to a new report, the producers of Jailer are planning to get the movie in theaters this September. The release of Jailer was pushed back recently to avoid clashing at the box office with director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Pooniyen Selvam 2.
Director Nelson has confirmed that superstar Rajinikanth has wrapped up his portions for the highly anticipated Jailer.
The movie is expected to enter postproduction this May. The movie will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with director Nelson, The director's last movie was Beast which starred Vijay in the lead role.
Jailer will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, the movie also marks the actor's Tamil debut.
Director Nelson roped in Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for a cameo in the movie. The project was announced by Sun Pictures in February and production officially started in July with shooting taking place in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore.
Recently Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff had also joined the cast of the movie. This will be the second time Rajinikanth and Jackie Shroff will be working together after the 1987 Bollywood movie 'Uttar Dakshin'.
In Jailer Rajinikanth plays the role of a Muthuvel Pandian the warden of the notorious prison. However, the plot of the movie remains under wraps.
But there is a rumor floating around that in the movie warden Muthuvel Pandian will have to protect his prison after a group of armed thugs breaks in to rescue their captured leader.
Tamannaah Bhatia has been roped in to play a major role in the movie, marking the first time the actress will be sharing the big screen with Superstar Rajinikanth.
The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, and Vinayakan.
Jailer will be dubbed in all major Indian languages and is expected to hit theaters worldwide in September.
