Despite the MCU 's recent mixed track record, one movie that Marvel fans are hyped about is the upcoming third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The movie will be the last GOTG movie that will be directed by James Gunn, who will be busy now that he is running DC Studios along with Peter Safran.

He had hinted that this will be the last time we see the original Guardians team up hinting at the death of one or more beloved characters.

In the movie, the guardians will be facing off against the High High Evolutionary(Chukwudi Iwuji) a genius scientist who is obsessed with genetic modifications and wants to unlock the next step in evolution.

He has altered himself thus giving himself super strength and speed as well as the power to evolve and devolve lifeforms at will, making him one of the most powerful villains the team has faced.

In a recent Twitter post, James Gunn gave fans a brand new look at the new bad guy.

From the recent trailer for the movie, it is clear that the High Evolutionary has a connection to Rocket Racoon's past and is most likely the person who took him from Earth and experimented on him.

And of course, fans are also hyped for the MCI debut of Adam Warlock(Will Poulter), who was created by Sovereign as the perfect being and who has now been tasked with finding and killing the guardians.

The movie will also feature an appearance by Cosmo the Spacedog voiced by Maria Bakalova, who made its MCU debut in the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special last year.

The movie boasts a star-studded cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
