Last week was filled with positive news for DC fans the first being the return of Henry Cavill as Superman and the second being the appointment of James Gunn and long-time DCU producer Peter Safran as Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of DC Studios.

The pair will oversee all DC properties across movies, TV, and animation. Today marks the first day at their new positions and Gunn marked his first day on the job by posting an old comic panel of Clark Kent aka Superman using a typewriter.

This could be a hint that the first major project he will be overseeing will be the Man of Steel sequel with Henry Cavill. The director was always a fan favorite to direct the sequel, currently, the studio is accepting pitches from writers so there could be a possibility that Gunn could end up helming the project.

In a recent interview with IGN, Henry Cavill was asked about James Gunn taking over the reins at DC Studios, to which the actor said

"I have not met James yet. I'm looking very forward to meeting him. He's clearly a very, very talented man, and I cannot wait to sit down and have long, long conversations with him. I'm very excited about him being there and very excited about any future opportunities we can work together."

James Gunn has always been quick to update his fans on his projects as well as answer questions, hopefully, he will continue to do so despite the new pressures of his new postion.

As for upcoming DCEU projects they include Shazam, Aquaman 2, and The Flash. It is rumored that the Flash movie will serve as a reboot to the franchise and help set up a more fleshed-out and planned timeline for the DC universe.

SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods directed by David F. Sandberg will be the first to hit theaters on 17 March 2023.
