Janhvi Kapoor against remake of Sridevi's iconic 'Chaal Baaz' led by Shraddha Kapoor, does she want to star in the film instead?

Janhvi Kapoor doesn’t feel any of her late mother’s films should be remade in Bollywood today. The actress expressed her views on remakes of her parents’ films she’d like to star in and turns out there are none.

The Good Luck Jerry actress doesn’t want to step into her mother’s shoes for her fear of comparison but also shared that some films of Sridevi like Chaal Baaz and Mr. India are too iconic to be remade and shouldn’t be touched.

The actress is well aware about the talks of remaking Chaal Baaz and didn’t seem to excited about the idea. The remake titled ‘Chaalbaaz in London’ was announced last year by the makers with Shraddha Kapoor in the lead and was effectively put on hold earlier this year owing to the uncertain situation due to the pandemic.

While talking to Times of India Janhvi said, “‘Mr India’ is such an iconic film that I don’t think it should be touched. I don’t think even ‘Chaal Baaz’ should get remade, although there were talks about it. I don't think any of my mom’s films should be remade.”

The actress further expressed that even if these films are remade she’d never want to star in them, “And if at all they are being remade, then they shouldn’t be remade with me because people won’t be happy at all. I will anyway fall short. There are similarities between me and her genetically. But I am a different person. With another actress filling in, it would be like it’s their interpretation. But with me, it would be too close to home and yet not be home at the same time.”

Sridevi died in 2018 and has left behind a legacy of over 300 films for her fans to remember her by. There have been talks about remaking several of her films in the past few years which also includes Mr. India apart from Chaal Baaz.
