John Abraham receives criticism after his statement on not wanting to do Telugu films, fan says 'Telugu cinema is ruling Bollywood and you cannot digest it'

    While his action film Attack that released today (April 1) has received mixed reactions, John Abraham has now found himself on the receiving end of some flak from the fans of the Telugu film industry. It all started after John in a recent interview said that he considers himself to be a Bollywood hero and does not wish to do Telugu films. This has not gone down well with the fans of the South film fraternity who have been lashing out at the actor for the same.

    While his action film Attack that released today (April 1) has received mixed reactions, John Abraham has now found himself on the receiving end of some flak from the fans of the Telugu film industry. It all started after John in a recent interview said that he considers himself to be a Bollywood hero and does not wish to do Telugu films. This has not gone down well with the fans of the South film fraternity who have been lashing out at the actor for the same.

    One of the users compared John Abraham’s last 12 films’ box office collections to the total number of box office collections of the Telugu movie RRR in six days. While another netizen stated that Telugu cinema is ‘ruling’ Bollywood and that the Satyameva Jayate 2 actor cannot digest the same. A user also went to the extent of calling John an ‘expressionless actor.’ Take a look at the tweets. 

    Talking about the particular statement, John Abraham was quoted revealing to a leading publication saying, “I will never do a regional film. I am a Hindi film hero.” The Batla House actor said the same while rubbishing the rumors of him starring opposite Prabhas in Salaar.

    John Abraham had added that, unlike his other Bollywood contemporaries, he cannot play the second lead in Telugu movies just to be a ‘part’ of the business. Well, it seems like the Madras Café actor has managed to anger the fans of Telugu cinema with these words. Apart from this, John spoke about the kind of projects, he is producing during his stint as a producer.

    The actor spoke to India.com saying, “Most of the films that I am developing now… it all comes from here (points at the brain). Then I discuss with people like Lakshya who are very collaborative or I see with a youngster like Lakshya who comes up with five different ideas. That’s how collaborations work. But, it has to come from here.” Talking about Attack, the movie also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles.
