John Abraham's Hindi remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum to be helmed by Anurag Kashyap?

    John Abraham is currently shooting for his upcoming geopolitical thriller Tehran with Arun Gopalan as the director. After completing the shoot, he will begin working on the long-delayed remake of the hit Malayalam film

    John Abraham's Hindi remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum to be helmed by Anurag Kashyap?

    Actor John Abraham has teamed up with Anurag Kashyap for the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum. The actor had acquired the rights to the film back in 2020. The film will reportedly go on floors by October this year.

    John is currently shooting for his upcoming geopolitical thriller Tehran with Arun Gopalan as the director. After completing the shoot, he will begin working on the long-delayed remake of the hit Malayalam film. Earlier, Jagan Shakti was reportedly working on its script but as per the latest report, Anurag Kashyap has been approached to re-work the script. He is being asked to give it a desi touch with a commercial angle. And filmmaker has also reportedly agreed to work on the project.

    For the unversed, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, the action-thriller was written and directed by Sachy and produced by Ranjith and P. M. Sasidharan under the company Gold Coin Motion Picture Company . Released in February 2020, the film revolves around the conflict between Koshy Kurien, an influential and wealthy ex-Havildar, and Ayyappan Nair, a Sub-inspector in Attappadi. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon in prominent roles. Earlier, a Telugu remake Bheemla Nayak, starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati , was released this year.

    The Hindi remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum is being bankrolled by John’s production house JA Entertainment . The movie was announced in May 2020 but got delayed by two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. The makers have decided to get the project rolling by October of this year after John completes the Tehran shooting.

    Meanwhile, John will next be seen in the Ek Villain sequel directed by Mohit Suri . His upcoming projects include Siddharth Anand’s Pathan alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone , Sajid Khan’s untitled comedy-drama co-starring Ritesh Deshmukh, and Force 3.
