Jr NTR-Prashanth Neel project NTRNeel gets a release date

Telugu superstar Jr NTR's next collaboration with director Prashanth Neel has created quite a buzz, not just in the Telugu film industry but across the Indian film industry. The project, tentatively titled NTRNeel, was launched on Friday in the presence of the movie's leading cast and crew.

The producers, Mythri Movie Makers, have now confirmed the movie's release date. The film will hit cinemas worldwide on January 9, 2026, coinciding with the Sankranti festival—a major holiday in the Telugu states. Sankranti is one of the most coveted release periods, as traditionally, cinemas in both Telugu states see a significant spike in footfalls. Given the scale, size, and hype surrounding NTRNeel, the film could greatly benefit from the holiday fervour, provided the filmmakers complete production on time.

However, the film is unlikely to go into production immediately. Both NTR and Prashanth Neel have ongoing commitments to complete before they can join forces for NTRNeel.

NTR is currently busy shooting Devara: Part 1. The project has been in the making for a year and has already missed several deadlines. Production was prolonged due to various reasons, which subsequently delayed its release. Written and directed by Koratala Siva, Devara is expected to be a visual spectacle. The filmmakers have reportedly shot the majority of the movie at sea, promising a thrilling cinematic experience. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, and Janhvi Kapoor in key roles.

On the other hand, Prashanth is expected to start shooting Salaar 2 with Telugu superstar Prabhas next. Given the success of Salaar 1, he's anticipated to complete the sequel as quickly as possible and release it in cinemas. Only after this project can Prashanth begin shooting his movie with NTR.
