Jugjugg jeeyo box office Day 1: Varun Dhawan-Kiara Advani's comedy drama off to average start, mints Rs 8.50 cr

Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani ’s family drama Jugjugg Jeeyo hit theatres on June 24 and received positive reviews from the audience and critics alike. The box office collection on the first day is headed towards Rs 8.5 crore. The film registered decent performance in the Delhi NCR belt and other metros. In the mass pockets, the collection suffered owing to the urban plot of the film.

The comedy-drama could have earned around 10 crores if it could have recorded good occupancy in the mass pockets. The opening collection was totally driven by the major metros and it could have pushed up closer to that Alia Bhatt ’s Gangubai Kathiawadi which opened around 9.5 crores. However, the overseas performance has been fairly good in places like UK and Gulf and even in US / Canada.

According to BoxofficeIndia.com, “The big plus for the film is the opening in Overseas which is beating Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in places like UK and Gulf and possible even US / Canada. The $2 million weekend mark should be there and it remains to be seen if it can challenge the $2.7 million mark of Gangubai Kathiwadi which is the biggest weekend of 2022 for original Hindi content. A lot will depend on the trajectory in US / Canada.”

Directed by Raj A Mehta, Jugjugg Jeeyo is about two couples from different generation facing issues in their marriage. Besides Varun and Kiara, the film also stars Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in pivotal roles The film marks Neetu’s comeback in movies after a long time. Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Kohli are also seen in key roles. Produced by Karan Johar ’s Dharma Production, the film is made on the budget of 100 crores, if it crosses 120 crores in its run at the box office, it will be called a hit. Well, it's yet to be seen whether the movie struck a chord with audiences in the coming weeks.
