    Kangana Ranaut is busy shooting for her much-anticipated period political drama Emergency . The upcoming movie boasts of an ensemble cast and the latest to join is Malayalam actor Vishak Nair. He is all set to feature in the role of Indira Gandhi’s younger son Sanjay Gandhi . Kangana introduced him as a ‘powerhouse of talent’.Sharing the first look, she wrote, “Presenting the powerhouse of talent @nair.vishak as #SanjayGandhi; Sanjay was the soul of Indira … the man she loved and lost …”

    As soon as the first look poster of Sanjay Gandhi’s character was unveiled, netizens shared their mixed reactions in the comment section. While some of them said that the casting is apt, some said that Vishak look more like Balasahab Thackeray than Sanjay Gandhi. “ Glad you are introducing new talents into the Hindi Film Industry. @nair.vishak has done many Malayalam movies. May this be a good opportunity for him to show his underrated acting chops,” wrote one of the fans. Another added, “Why is he looking like Bala sahab thackeray”. “ Ye to Kahin Se Sanjay Gandhi nahi lag raha,” commented one of the netizens. Another suggested that Neil Nitin Mukesh would have been the right fit. “Should have casted Neil nitin Mukesh” wrote the user.

    Talking about launching Vishak in Bollywood, Kangana said, “I looked for a face for more than six months and I decided to launch him as the face. I am glad that after Avneet I am launching a new face in a very big-scale film. Vishak is a tremendous actor and has done a slew of Malayalam movies. This is his first Hindi film and I am certain he will do great justice to Sanjay’s character,” she said in a statement.

    On the other hand, Vishak is all excited to be part of the cast that also includes Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Shreyas Talpade, and Milind Soman in pivotal roles. “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an incredible film. Working with Kangana ma’am has been an absolute joy and a fantastic learning experience as well. It’s been quite something to work with such accomplished artists. I can flex my acting muscles and I have not had the opportunity as an actor to push myself in such a role,” he said in a statement.

    Written and directed by Kangana, Emergency is a story about the watershed moment in the political history imposed by Gandhi for a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977, when the fundamental rights of the people were put under strict curbs. Kangana will be seen in the role of Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2023.
