Warner Brothers have been dealing with bad publicity since the news came out that they have canceled the Batgirl movie.

So the release of the first teaser for Joker: Folie A Deux almost feels like something the studio did as damage control.

Regardless the sequel to Todd Phillips sequel will be a musical set in Arkham Asylum and the teaser offers a small glimpse inside the twisted mind of the Joker.

While we don't know what role Lady Gaga will be playing there is a strong possibility that it could be Harley Quinn.

The most significant indicator is that she has a heart on her cheek when the pair are dancing in the teaser.

So the possibility of the sequel focusing on Harley Quinn's origin story, who was a psychiatrist treating the Joker in Arkham Asylum but slowly starts to lose touch with reality and becomes his lover.

It will be interesting to see how different this take on the character will be compared to Margot Robbie's portrayal in the Suicide Squad movies.

2019s Joker was the first R-rated movie to gross 1 billion dollars worldwide wide and earned 12 Oscar nominations including the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Original Score.

Quinn's origin story was revealed in the 1994 comic The Batman Adventures: Mad Love, which portrays the character as a tragic figure and sympathetic villain.

Hopefully, we will get more details about the sequel in the coming months.

We will also see get to see Eternals star Barry Keoghan's version of the Joker take on Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in Batman 2.

Joker: Folie A Deux is set to release on October 4, 2024.
