'Maar mujhe, tu maar mujhe': Shahid Kapoor had to urge his ‘very scared’ Jersey co-star Mrunal Thakur to slap him

Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur have worked together for the first time on the film Jersey and in the process have become good friends. The trailer of the movie has already struck a chord with the audience who now wait to see the pair bring this emotional plot play out on screen this New Year’s eve.

Busy promoting the film together, Mrunal got asked about a particularly intense scene in the trailer where she slaps Shahid after finding him go through her wallet for money. The actress confessed she was ‘very scared’ of slapping the actor and how she had to be egged on by Shahid himself to go ahead and do.

The actress told Times of India, “I was very scared. I didn't want to sc*ew up his performance. I was tense about kahin jyada na lag jaye (I shouldn't overdo the output). But Shahid helped me in that scene a lot, by egging me on, 'Maar mujhe, tu maar mujhe'.”

Mrunal it seems preferred going bald for a film with Shahid instead of having to slap him again. Asked particularly about how comfortable she would feel losing her hair for a role in a rapid fire round, the actress said, “Yes, surely. I just hope I'm not slapping again.”

Jersey is a film about a failed cricketer who while trying to put together money for a jersey for his son rediscovers his passion for the game and gets back in stadium to give his dreams as a cricketer another shot.

The movie is Shahid’s first post-pandemic film to release and also the first after his biggest solo blockbuster Kabir Singh which released in 2019.
