Mammootty's upcoming gritty crime-thriller 'Christopher' gets an official release date

Mammooty had a good run in 2022, not only did his gangster movie Bheeshma Parvam become one of the highest-grossing Malayalam movies of the year, but it also is the third highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time.

The actor was able to showcase his versatility and range by acting in movies like Puzhu and Rorschach. He started the new year with the critically acclaimed Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.

The actor's second movie of 2023 will be the gritty crime thriller Christopher , in which he will be playing the role of SP Christopher IPS, a veteran police officer who doesn't play by the rules.

Christopher is charged with solving a series of violent crimes in Kerala that may have a link to one of his past cases.

The movie is directed by B. Unnikrishnan marking the first time Mammootty has worked with the director. The script for the movie is written by the director's long-time collaborator Udaykrishna.

Christopher finally has an official release on February 9th, and we also know that the movie has received a U/A certification from the Censor Board and that it has a runtime of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Despite the anticipation among fans for the movie, there is also a concern that the movie will ultimately be let down mainly due to the terrible track record of director B. Unnikrishnan and writer Udayakrisha.

Udayakrishna's last two movies were the 2022 Mohanlal starrer Aaraattu and directed by B.Unnikrishnan was one most panned movies of the year and the other was Monster which also starred Mohanlal and is considered to the worst Malayalam movie of the year.

So the concers's of some fans regarding the movie is understandable, hopefully, the director and writer will be able to turn things around.

The cast of the movie includes Vinay Rai, Amala Paul, Sarath Kumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shine Tom Chacko, and Sneha.

Christopher will hit theaters on February 9th.
