Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson who is known for his work in movies like Godzilla, Kickass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the recent action-comedy movie Bullet Train in which he acted alongside Brad Pitt is reportedly a top contender for the role of 007.

While there has been much speculation on who will be taking over the role after Daniel Craig's departure from the franchise, with names like Henry Cavill and Edris Elba, it seems the studio is looking or a younger actor to play the role of the iconic British spy.

long-time producers of the James Bond franchise Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson revealed that they are looking for an actor who can play the role for a long time to come and thus want someone younger.

According to a new report by The Sun (via ActioNewz.com) the actor became a front-runner for the role after a recent screen test for the role at Pinewood Studio.

"Aaron went for a screen test to be the next Bond in September and producers and Barbara loved him. He is now one of the front-runners."

Considering the actor has given some strong performances in the past as well as his age(32) he could be exactly what the studio had in mind for Danel Craig's replacement.

Since the next installment in the franchise has no official announcement, it will be a while before we know if this report turns out to be true.

Currently, the actor is busy filming director David Leitch's The Fall Guy in which he will be acting opposite Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson will also star in the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie Kraven The Hunter which will be the next installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe.

And will focus on the anti-hero Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven, a big game hunter with superhuman abilities, and stars Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, and Russell Crowe.

The project is directed by J. C. Chandor. Because of the negative reaction to their last spinoff Morbius which starred Jared Leto, Sony has delayed the release of the movie to October 6, 2023.
