Mohanlal's 2023 is off to a rough start as his first movie of the year 'Alone' flops at the box office

Mohalak's first movie of the new year Alone was panned by audiences and fans alike and according to the latest box office numbers, the movie is a disaster.

The movie has only managed to gross 68 lakhs since its release and record low opening in the actors' career. The movie directed by Shaji Kailas was initially going to be an OTT release but was changed to a theatrical release.

The movie was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas with a budget of 2.5 crores.

2022 was not a good year for Malayalam superstar Mohanlal with movies like Aaraattu and Monster being universally panned by audiences and critics alike.

Many felt that the reason behind this is the actor working with directors and writers like B. Unnikrishanan, Vysakh, and Udaykrishna, who have a terrible track record of making incredibly outdated movies.

And Alone is the latest movie is a string of flops, But the actor has thankfully decided to change things up in 2023, currently, the actor is busy working with director Lijo Jose Pellissery for Malaikottai Valiban.

And has projects lined up with some of the best directors and writers in the Malayalam movie industry including National Award-winning writer Syam Pushkaran.

As for Malaikottai Valiban, plot details are a mystery but we do know that Mohanala will be playing a wrestler in the movie.

Producers of the movie are currently in talks with Bollywood actress Radhika Apte to play the female lead opposite Mohanlal. There are also rumors that Kamla Hassan may have a cameo in the movie as well.

After he has wrapped Malaikottai Valiban, the actor will be joining the sets of L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. The movie is directed by Prithviraj and is expected to start filming by mid-2023.

Mohanlal will also have a cameo in the Rajinikanth action flick Jailer, marking the first time the two stars will be sharing the big screen.
