Once replaced in Akshay Kumar's Airlift, fan of the star Jatin Sarna reveals he rejected Bachchan Pandey

Jatin Sarna who recently appeared as cricketer Yashpal Sharma in Kabir Khan directed ’ 83 has opened up about becoming more selective about his roles and revealed how he has turned down as many as 12 Bollywood films recently. Some of them are big ticket films including Bachchan Pandey and Tiger 3.

The actor who has earned a reputation as ace performer with his recent projects, during a chat with Hindustan Times revealed how he was once cast in Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift. The actor was extremely disappointed when he was replaced in the project without notice by actor Purab Kohli .

“I’m a huge Akshay Kumar fan. When I was cast for the role, I was very excited and my family was like this is it! But one day I realised that baat bigad gayi hai. I kept calling them, but there was no response. I went to meet the director Raja Menon, and I found out that they have already started shooting. They dropped me and went with a known face,” Jatin told the publication.

The actor was, however, relaised that he didn’t miss out on much after the movie finally arrived in cinemas in 2016 and he realized that the part he was offered wasn’t crucial in the larger scheme of things.

Today, the tables have turned and Jatin who was once again approached to star in Akshay’s film Bachchan Pandey, refused the project. However, the actor’s reason isn’t retribution but simply that the character didn’t excite him. The actor said that sharing screen space with big stars in small roles isn’t his goal anymore and he hopes to take on only substantial roles.

Between Airlift and Bachchan Pandey, which is lined up to release this year, Jatin has starred in some big projects and gotten noticed and appreciated for it.

Sacred Games , Sonchiriya , Darbar, Bamfaad, Chhalaang and 83 are some of his recent projects which have opened doors for him in the industry.
