    Jai Bhim is among 276 movies that are eligible to be nominated for best foreign film and was featured in the Academy's official Youtube channel.

    Suriya starrer Jai Bhim which became the talk of the town last year, Jai Bhim has made the cut for eligibility to be nominated in the Best Foreign Films category at the Oscars 2022 .

    The courtroom drama which is based on real-life events was a critical hit and considered one of the best movies of 2020 and one of Suriya's best performances and now the movie is eligible for The Best Foreign Film Oscar category.

    The was featured in the A cademy's official YouTube channel in the 'Seen by The Academy' section.

    The other movies featured among the 276 were 'Jockey,' 'Cruella,' 'Dune,' 'Ageless Love,' 'Black Widow,' 'Boogie,' 'Candyman,' 'Eternals,' 'Godzilla VS Kong,' 'King Richard.

    The official description for the movie from the video reads "Jai Bhim weaves in real case studies helmed by Activist-Lawyer Chandru, who brought justice to indigenous tribes in Tamilnadu through his relentless efforts. Writer-director TJ Gnanavel reveals how the story narrative was formed and executed."

    Jai Bhim is based on a real-life case tried by lawyer and activist K. Chandru, the movie follows the disappearance of Rajakannu a tribal man who was falsely accused of a crime and arrested, Chandru takes on the case pro bono for the wife Sengeni.

    The movie is written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel, with Suriya and his wife Joythika producing the movie under their banner 2D Entertainment 

    The voting for this year's Academy Awards will start this month on the 27th and end on February 1, the final list of nominees will be announced on February 8th and the award ceremony will be held live on March 27 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

    Jai Bhim is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and is dubbed in all major Indian languages.
