Mani Ratnam is back with the second installment of his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2 . The movie boasts of a stellar star cast consisting of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Vikram , Jayam Ravi , Karthi , Trisha and others in the lead roles. The trailer of the second part of the movie was released in the form of a huge event in Chennai which was also followed by a music launch of the same.

Kamal Haasan was the main chief guest in the trailer launch of Ponniyin Selvan 2. The second part of the franchise is based on the Kalki Krishnamurthy novel of the same name. By the looks of the trailer, the second part will continue from when the first installment of the movie concluded. While the Chola dynasty is at the pinnacle of its glory, there are new threats and internal conflicts lurking within the empire. The character of Jayam Ravi aka Ponniyin Selvan will be taking the centre stage after he had a near ride with death on the first part. We also see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini come back with a bang to seek out revenge against the Chola dynasty after she had jumped into the sea to save Arulmozhi Varman’s character. Take a look at the trailer.

The highlight of the trailer seems to be the ending scene wherein Nandini is facing Vikram’s Karikalan and is on the verge of stabbing him with a sword. The chemistry between the two is truly palpable. The background score by AR Rahman wins big. Overall, the second installment of Ponniyin Selvan 2 looks even higher in grandeur and thrill.

The film is all set to be released on April 28, 2023. Ponniyin Selvan 2’s team will reportedly embark on a grand promotional tour across the globe around the first week of April to garner more anticipation surrounding the film. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also shared an intense poster yesterday wherein her character Nandini can be seen sitting on the floor and looking down into something. Above the same, we see Vikram’s Karikalan sporting a pensive expression.
