R Madhavan wants to see Kartik Aaryan as Maddy and Alia Bhatt as Reena in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein remake

R Madhavan is still remembered for his iconic role of Maddy in the 2001 film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein . Recently, the actor revealed his dream cast for the romantic drama if it is ever made again. And you will be surprised to know that he took Kartik Aaryan and Alia Bhatt ’s name.

The 3 Idiots actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming directorial debut, Rocketry : The Nambi Effect. In a recent interaction with a news portal, he was asked if a remake of the Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein would be made, who he wants to be in the cast. Although, he first said that he doesn’t think a remake of the cult film will be made. If so, then he would love to see Kartik and Alia in the film.

For the unversed, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein is a Hindi-language romantic drama that revolves around the love story of a young man named Madhav ‘Maddy’ Shashtri and a young woman named Reena Malhotra. The latter finds that she is engaged to another man named Rajeev, not Madhav who pretended to be Rajeev. The film stars R Madhavan, Dia Mirza , and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film is a remake of his own Tamil film Minnale. The film did not perform well at the box office, but is still considered a cult classic and loved by many over the years.

Further, Madhavan was asked if he will be seen in a romantic role ever after Tanu Weds Manu Returns . The actor replied that he won’t be romancing a young girl at his age now. “I have to get a script that’s in accordance with my age. I can’t romance a young girl on screen anymore.” he added.

Meanwhile, Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect tells the story of Indian Aerospace Engineer Nambi Narayanan . The actor plays the titular role in the film. Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya will also be seen in came roles. The film is finally slated to hit the theatres on July 1, 2022.
