Radhe Shyam looking to join Bachchan Pandey for a Holi release, Shamshera to bow out from the race?

The Holi weekend this year seems to have suddenly found a lot of takers in Bollywood. Originally blocked by Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera which is being backed by Yash Raj Films , the festive weekend got a second release in the form of Akshay Kumar ’s Bachchan Pandey.

On Tuesday, Akshay announced the new release date of his action comedy also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Kriti Sanon . Bachchan Pandey had originally blocked 4th of March for release but will now be arriving on 18 March instead.

At the same time, a news report in BollywoodLife has claimed that Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam is eyeing the same release date to arrive on. A source told the portal that the film which was delayed once again due to the third wave of Covid-19 might now arrive on Holi instead. The originally announced release date for Radhe Shyam was 14 January.

All movies are big and certainly even a festival as big as Holi can’t make room for three movies of this size. However, given the sheer number of big films awaiting cinematic release clashes in some places might be inevitable.

Reports have also surfaced that with the arrival of Bachchan Pandey on Holi, Shamshera makers might be planning to bow out trying to avoiding the competition. Shamshera, it has been said, might in fact be eyeing an OTT release.

It is already known that YRF has tied up with Amazon Prime Video for the digital premiere of its big films including Prithviraj , Shamshera and Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Filmmaker Karan Malhotra who has helmed Shamera spoke about the possibility of the movie getting pushed again in a recent interview where he said that it is uncertain to say what will happen at this stage.

He also said that he has entrusted Aditya Chopra , the producer of the period action drama with the decision regarding release.
