Raksha Bandhan: Twinkle Khanna reviews husband Akshay Kumar’s film; dares fans to leave the theatre dry-eyed
As fans eagerly wait to watch Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s Raksha Bandhan on Rakhi tomorrow, former’s wife Twinkle Khanna has shared an exciting review of his film.

On the special occasion of Rakhi this month, Akshay Kumar ’s much awaited film Raksha Bandhan will arrive in theatres. Also starring Bhumi Pednekar along with Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur and Smrithi Srikanth, the family comedy drama follows the story of a man who makes a promise to his mother on her deathbed-- to get his four sisters married before he ties the knot himself. The project is special because it marks Akshay’s second film with ace filmmaker Aanand L. Rai after Atrangi Re.
Well much to our delight, Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna has now shared the first review of his upcoming film. Along with the trailer clip, she wrote: “Raksha Bandhan made me laugh in the first half and cry through the second. A movie about the India we all pretend doesn’t exist. A reality that we wish didn’t exist. We have changed terms, from ‘dowry’ to ‘gifts’ but in homes across social-economic strata, variations of the custom loom large. The wonderful Aanand Rai has skilfully built a world where siblings tease each other, support each other and ultimately triumph together.”
She further shared, “The challenge with altering mindsets is that these conversations circulate largely among the already-converted. It’s perhaps only cinema that has the power to burrow into the minds and hearts of people across the board. Raksha Bandhan may make you smile and crack up, but I dare you to leave the theatre dry-eyed:)”
Well, this review has definitely piqued our interest in Raksha Bandhan, which will clash with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha this Friday. Which film are you planning to watch with your siblings?
