The fantasy drama Brahmastra has taken the box office by storm ever since it has released on September 9. Ayan Mukerji’s directorial starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor has hit another milestone of Rs 170 crore in just seven days of release. Produced for a whopping budget of Rs 410 crore, there is still a high and difficult road ahead for the film to cover its cost before generating a profit.

Brahmastra’s first-week performance has been good for a Hindi film this year. The film opened at Rs 36.42 crore on Day 1, and over the weekend, the film picked up business. It collected Rs 42.41 crore and Rs 45.66 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively as reported by Sacnik. It further raked in Rs 16.5 crore on its first weekday but witnessed a minimal drop on Tuesday grossing Rs 12.68 crore. On Wednesday, it minted Rs 10.53 crore on Wednesday and on Thursday, i.e Day 7, it recorded approximately Rs 9 crore at the box office.

It is estimated that the film will surpass the collection of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2(221 crores) in the coming days, taking the second spot as the highest grosser of the year after The Kashmir Files (nearly Rs 300 crore). But comparing the budget of the two films to that of Brahmastra, it has yet not reached the stage when it can be declared a hit due to a bigger breakeven point.

Recently, Ayan posted that his film has earned more than Rs 300 crore globally in its first week. According to Pinkvilla reports, the film is eyeing to enter the Rs 250 crore club in the domestic market soon, while crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in the overseas market is expected by the end of its second weekend. Despite mixed reviews from fans and critics, the movie is garnering a similar craze as Marvel superhero movies among the audiences. And the director has already started working on the second part of the film titled Brahmastra Part Two: Dev. And it is expected that Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh will be headlining the second part.
