    The Brahmastra box office numbers remain wondrous despite Ranbir-Alia’s controversial statements triggering a boycott of their film. The sci-fi fantasy drama has managed to rake in numbers for its VFX and performances. On the second day of release, it collected Rs 37 crore in the Hindi belt, while 5 crores in regional languages took earnings to Rs 42 crore nett.

    The much-anticipated film opened to mixed to negative reviews from the critics. Some said the film has a poor script and loose editing. While some liked the special effects and claimed that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s cameos are the major highlights of the film. However, going by the opening day number, the footfalls have been impressive as it raised ₹75 crores in gross box office collection worldwide.

    Directed by Ayan Mukerjee, Brahmastra is mounted on a massive budget of over ₹400 crores, one of the most expensive films made in India. The film revolves around a DJ named Shiva(Ranbir), who sets out on a journey to find the origins of his special powers with Isha (Alia ), a woman he falls in love with at first sight. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles.

The film, which took more than 5 years in making, arrived in theatres on September 9 worldwide.
