    S.S. Rajamouli has another blockbuster on the cards with RRR which opened in cinemas this Friday. The larger than life historical action drama is has been earning praises from all corners and is it now time for the results. The film on its opening day is projected to have done remarkably well across the globe.

    RRR is projected to have done a business of nearly Rs. 18 crores in the Hindi belt while the domestic collections are well over Rs. 130 crores for the film which has broken the opening records of S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2. The Prabhas film had collected Rs. 122 crores on its opening day setting an all time record.

    Internationally too, the movie has done record breaking business in Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A and U.K. The movie earned Rs. 26.46 crores in North America, in the U.K. the collections stand at Rs. 2.4 0 crores. RRR has taken over Matt Reeves’ The Batman in Australia with earnings of Rs. 4.03 crores in collections at the box office on Day 1.

    The movie received a thunderous welcome from fans in India doing particularly well in the Telugu speaking states. It also did well in states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Telugu version of the film from the Hindi belt is also said to have collected Rs. 2-2.50 crores on it opening day.

    RRR stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead with Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn starring in cameos. The movie is a fictional tale based on the lives of real life pre-Independence revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj.

    RRR has many more records still to break but over all the film is looking at an extraordinary opening weekend at the box office despite being a post-pandemic release given that reviews and the enthusiasm of fans are both in its favour.
