RRR: Makers postpone the release date indefinitely; request fans to hold onto their excitement

Back in March 2018 when Baahubali director SS Rajamouli officially announced RRR , fans were over the moon with joy. Starring South superstars Ram Charan and N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in the lead, the period action drama became one of the most awaited films of our country. Soon, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn joined the cast, piquing our interest further. Well, after unveiling the first look posters of the star cast one by one, makers finally launched the much anticipated trailer following the fictitious story of freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem last month. It left us eagerly waiting for RRR to premiere on the big screen on the first Friday of 2022.

To add on to our excitement, the team set out on a promotional spree. Well, it breaks our heart to share that the makers of RRR have now decided to postpone the film’s release indefinitely as theatres are shutting down again because of COVID-19 . An official statement shared by the team read: “Inspite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back The Glory of Indian Cinema, and at the right time, WE WILL.”

RRR is not the only film that has been pushed indefinitely amid the Omicron scare, which resulted in many theatres being shut down. Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur ’s sports drama Jersey , which was all set to arrive on the big screen on 31stDecember 2021, was postponed by the team just a few days before release. Well, all we can do is wait for things to get better.
