Samrat Prithviraj: CM Yogi Adityanath watches Akshay Kumar's historical drama, declares it tax-free in UP

    Samrat Prithviraj: CM Yogi Adityanath watches Akshay Kumar's historical drama, declares it tax-free in UP

    Akshay Kumar 's upcoming historical drama Samrat Prithviraj has been declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh. The state chief minister Yogi Adityanath was mighty impressed after watching the film at a special screening held in Lucknow.

    Ahead of the film’s release, the makers organized the special screening for Adityanath in Lok Bhawan, Lucknow on Thursday. The film’s lead actors Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar, and director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi were also in attendance. The chief minister congratulated the director and the cast for showing the rich culture of India and said, "I announce that the movie will be tax-free in the state," he said.

    Adityanath also complimented Akshay for showing the history of India in his film. "The film talks about the history and provides entertainment. It can be watched with the family. We have learned from the mistakes of the past and are trying to rectify the mistakes of the past 75 years. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving forward with the vision of the next 25 years to take India ahead," he added.

    Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah heaped praises on Akshay’s film saying, “Overcoming many obstacles and difficulties, today India's pride, greatness, culture and our ‘Swadharma’ have once again restored to the same glory. I congratulate the entire team of Samrat Prithviraj for…..especially the creative Art direction of this film," he said in a statement.

    Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Samrat Prithviraj is based on the life of the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan who fought merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles. The film is set to release in theatres in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on June 3.
