After Kabir Singh, actor Shahid Kapoor is yet again geared up for another Telugu remake of Jersey . Having two consecutive releases with the same format and directors of Telugu films, the actor, however, feels no pressure.

In a recent interview with Indian Express, Shahid admitted that he was under pressure during Kabir Singh, but now with Jersey, he is confident. “When you are trying something for the first time, you don’t know how it’ll go. So, a lot of confidence and reassurance (came in) after Kabir Singh,” he said.

“Even if you’re playing the same character, how do you maintain certain nuances and make it your own, give it a fresh take…” said Shahid adding that he is more assured now with Jersey. “I was more assured when I was doing Jersey, more confident this time. I was a little unsure the last time (Kabir Singh).”

For the unversed, Shahid's Kabir Singh is a Hindi remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga . The film gained wide popularity at the box office and is the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019.

Meanwhile, Jersey is helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also directed the 2019 Telugu film with the same name. The Telugu version featured Nani in the lead role and won two National Awards. The film is about a failed cricketer who is on a mission to fulfill his son’s dream of seeing him wear the Indian jersey and play for the team. In the Hindi remake, Shahid plays the titular role alongside Mrunal Thakur who plays his onscreen love interest.

The film also has veteran actor and Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapur who is seen in the role of a coach. Talking about his collaboration with his dad, Shahid said, “Roles like Arjun and Kabir are so challenging, and there’s pressure of not letting the original film down. Then there’s your dad. So there was a lot to deal with. But having him in all those scenes helped tremendously. You end up giving it your best as an actor. It’s always amazing to learn from him.”
