Shazam 2 is one of the last movies in the old DCEU line, the sequel hit theaters worldwide the previous week and had a disappointing opening weekend.

The movie only collected 30 million from US markets, five million short of the projected 35 million and internationally the film made 35 million bringing the total to 65 million.

Despite positive reactions from audiences, many critics were not impressed with the sequel. However, Shazam's underwhelming start at the box office could mean the last two remaining DCEU movies Aquaman 2 and The Flash could face a similar fate.

The lack of interest from audiences and even DC fans for Shazam 2 could also be due to the fact that the entire DC universe will be rebooted after the release of the Flash movie with new actors and storylines.

This makes one wonder how audiences will receive Aquaman 2 and The Flash. There is a strong chance that The Flash movie might overcome this and become a big success as it is jumping off point for the new DCU .

Factor in the fact that James Gunn called the movie one of the best superhero movies ever made, The Flash might be a worthy conclusion to the mixed bag that has been the DCEU.

However, when it comes to the case of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom it is hard to be optimistic as the movie is reportedly a mess and has gone through several reshoots but still failed to get any positive reactions from test screenings.

Well, DC fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for these two movies. Meanwhile Shazam 2 currently holds a 56% critics score and an 84% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the sequel, Shazam will take on the Titans Hespera and her sister Kalypso played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu respectively.

The Titans had been imprisoned for centuries but have freed themselves and now are after Billy Batson and the rest of his superhero family to steal their powers and take over the world.

SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods is directed by David F. Sandberg and is currently running in theaters.
