Siddhant Chaturvedi on working with Deepika Padukone in Gehraiyaan: ‘When I looked into her eyes, I saw Ranveer”

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi is on an absolute roll! After a smashing debut in Bollywood with Zoya Akhtar ’s blockbuster hit Gully Boy , in which he played the role of the beloved MC Sher, the actor bagged many exciting projects thanks to his killer performance. One of the most awaited from this list was Shakun Batra ’s directorial Gehraiyaan. Well, the film premiered on Amazon Prime Video last week and fans can’t seem to get enough of Siddhant aka Zain’s sizzling chemistry with his co-star Deepika Padukone , who has played the role of Alisha in the domestic noir.

Well, in a recent chat with Zee News Siddhant opened up about how challenging this role was for him. He shared, “Yes, it was difficult to romance Deepika. With me, I look for my character in my co-actor's eyes and whatever I've done, I saw it in Deepika's eyes only and could do justice to it.” When asked what he saw in Deepika’s eyes, the actor replied, “ Ranveer Singh . And he is also a brilliant actor. When I looked into Deepika's eyes, I saw Ranveer and he told me, 'Chote, kill it!'. I did my first film with Ranveer and I also got to learn a lot from him.”

Siddhant went on to add that he is grateful to Deepika for treating him, as well as their co-stars Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa , as family. He shared that the actress, who is his senior in the industry, never made the others feel that she’s a big star on set. Siddhant was quoted saying, “She is very simple, she is true to her art, she is like an honest school-going girl who likes to work in a disciplined manner. Her simplicity is her biggest flex.” Isn’t that sweet?

While Deepika, Ananya, Siddhant and Dhairya’s performances were lauded, Gehraiyaan received mixed reviews from critics as well as audiences.
