'Song copy, movie copy, Copywood Jai Ho' : Netizens not pleased with Akshay Kumar-Emraan Hashmi remaking 'Main Khiladi' song in Selfiee

The Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer Selfiee is one of the most awaited films of next year and now fans have another reason to be excited around the same. Emraan took to his social media handle to give a sneak peek of the BTS shoot of the song ‘ Main Khiladi Tu Anari ’ which is a remake of the cult dance number by the same name from the 1994 film. The original film starred Akshay and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles and the song was also picturized on them. However, the development received a rather mixed response wherein some netizens weren’t too pleased with the makers of the film remaking both the movie and song without any originality.

Talking about the same, Emraan Hashmi shared a post wherein he and Akshay Kumar can be seen posing together with their backs to the camera. The duo can be seen wearing shimmery outfits wherein Emraan wrote, “28 years after the original .. The OG khiladi with the new Anari. This stare down led to a dance off . And what a dance off it was . (Haven’t stopped icing my feet ever since) #Selfiee.” Take a look at the post.

However, while some fans expressed their excitement for the song, others were miffed that the makers are remaking both the song and the film, the latter being a copy of the 2019 Malayalam movie Driving License. One netizen stated, “Song copy movie copy. Copywood jai ho..u can't change..It's people’s turn to avoid such stuff n make original content.” Another user stated, “Ohh same song remixed again . How easy it is for music directors . But for audience it’s a bore now . When will you guys learn . Come up with something new / original or it will also have same fate as remakes in Bollywood.” Furthermore a netizen wrote, “Oh God! These two are going to spoil yet another good Malayalam movie. Yuck.”

Well, on the other hand, there were also many fans who expressed their excitement about the song. The movie has been directed by Raj Mehta and will be released on February 24, 2023. The movie also stars Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead roles.
