Thangalaan box office collection day 4: Vikram-starrer maintains solid momentum, earns THIS much

    Despite a clash with Demonte Colony 2, here's how much the Vikram-starrer Thangalaan has earned on the first weekend of its release.

    Vikram’s latest period action drama Thangalaan, which hit the big screens recently, has been making huge waves at the box office, outperforming several other releases. Directed by Pa Ranjith, this period actioner. starring Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, and Parvathy depicts the plight of the tribal communities of Kolar Gold Mines during the British Empire. On day 4, here’s how much the film has earned at the box office:

    According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Vikram-starrer, which had a strong opening, earned ₹13.3 crore on its first day. Although the film saw a slight dip on day 2, it picked up momentum over the weekend, earning approximately ₹5.65 crore, bringing its total domestic collections to ₹29.35 crore. The movie has collected over ₹53.64 crore worldwide. On day 4, the film enjoyed a Tamil occupancy rate of 40.63 percent and a 38.41 percent occupancy rate for its Telugu version. The Vikram-starrer has been receiving great responses from viewers, who have labelled it the best movie in Vikram’s career.

    While the film clashed with Demonte Colony 2 at the box office, with the horror thriller collecting over ₹17.80 crore, Thangalaan seems to be taking first place among recent releases.  

    Thangalaan sequel announced

    Following the overwhelming responses Thangalaan received, leading man Vikram announced the sequel of the period actioner at a success party held in Hyderabad. The announcement was made with the endorsement of director Pa Ranjith. However, the sequel's production will depend on Ranjith’s schedule, as he is currently busy with his next project, Sarpatta 2 with Arya.

    Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film also features Pasupathi, Preethi, and Arjun Prabhakaran in significant roles. Set against the backdrop of the Kolar Gold Mines, the movie focuses on the exploitation of tribal communities when the British took control of their land. 

    While Vikram played the titular character, Parvathy played the role of Gangamma. The tribal goddess Aarathi's role was played by Malavika Mohanan.
