Thangalaan Twitter Review: Netizens laud Vikram’s terrific performance, call him the ‘gem of Kollywood’

The most-awaited day has arrived - Thangalaan is here! On the special occasion of Independence Day, Vikram’s highly anticipated period action drama Thangalaan has finally debuted on the big screen. Following its grand release, the film, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pa Ranjith, has been receiving overwhelming responses from audiences and critics, alike, who have praised the masterful performance of leading man Vikram. Here’s how the first-day-first-show goers have reacted to the film on X (formerly Twitter).

Many users took to their social media handles to heap praise on the mind-blowing performance of Vikram, who has stunned audiences with his acting prowess. With many viewers calling the film his ‘career-best,’ one user wrote, “CHIYAANVIKRAM: THE GEM OF CINEMA. What an effort & performance in each frame of #Thangalaan. Especially towards the climax & a few portions of the second half.”

Though some viewers felt that the narration was a bit slow, they pointed out that it did not affect the overall experience of the film. “#Thangalaan: INTERNATIONAL STANDARD OF MAKING. Chiyaan Vikram has purely given his HEART & SOUL for the movie. Yes, it has a slow narration which requires patience, but it’s worth watching for its making,” another user commented. 

Vikram wasn’t the only star of the show. Viewers also praised the man behind the heart-thumping background score—GV Prakash Kumar. Heaping praise on the National Award-winning composer, one user wrote, “#GVPrakash: The soul behind #Thangalaan. Extraordinary background score throughout the movie. Thangalaaneee War song is pure goosebumps while watching along with the visuals.” 

The female leads, Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan, also stole the show with their impressive performances and have earned a place in the hearts of Tamil audiences. “#Thangalaan #Parvathy and #Malavika shine throughout the film.” 

Overall, audiences have been awestruck by Pa Ranjith’s creation and are calling it a worthy Kollywood biggie after a long time!

Thangalaan cast and plot

Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film is headlined by Vikram, Parvathy, and Malavika Mohanan. Besides the lead cast, the film also features Pasupathi, Preethi, and Arjun Prabhakaran in significant roles. Set against the backdrop of the Kolar Gold Mines, the movie focuses on the plight of tribal communities when the British took control of their land.
