The Batman star Robert Pattinson set to work with Parasite director Bong Joon-ho to collaborate on a sci-fi movie

After winning the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director fans of Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho were eagerly waiting to know what his next project will be and it seems that the wait is over. The director will be adapting the upcoming science-fiction novel Mickey 7 for the big screen if reports are anything to go by.

Bong Joon-ho will be working with actor Robert Pattinson who will be playing the lead. This will be the first time the two have worked together.

The movie will be produced by Warner Bros, the novel by Edward Ashton is yet to be released but the director has read an advance copy and agreed to the project.

The official synopsis of Mickey 7 describes the story as: "A disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey7. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal… and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it."

The movie version won't be 100% faithful to the novel and would rather be an adaption. This will be the third Hollywood movie by the director, the first being the dystopian sci-fi drama Snowpiercer which started Chris Evans in the lead and the second was Okja for Netflix .

The movie is still in the early stages of development so it will be a while before we hear any more news such as cast details beyond Pattinson's involvement.

But knowing the excellent track record director Bong Joon-ho has, Mickey7 is sure to make sci-fi lovers very happy.

An official confirmation on Robert's casting as lead is awaited but till then fans of the actor have Matt Reeves The Batman to watch out for. The actor will be playing the younger version of the caped crusader who is out to seek vengence. The movie which will be out in March promises much with three villains including The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin.
