Urvashi and Parvathy’s latest mystery thriller, Ullozhukku, which hit the big screens on June 21, has been making headlines for its impressive screenplay and stellar performances by the lead actors. Directed by Christo Tomy, the film opened to positive responses from audiences and critics alike, who praised the makers for delivering a gripping thriller. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Ullozhukku opened to impressive numbers in the Malayalam regions on its opening day and has so far minted approximately Rs 93 lakhs nationwide. The film is now inching towards earning Rs 1 crore and is expected to continue making good numbers in the coming days.
The Malayalam movie was released alongside Anarkali and Gukul Suresh’s sci-fi comedy-drama Gaganachari; however, it managed to draw a larger audience due to the exceptional performances of its lead actors and Christo Tomy’s compelling and engaging storytelling. With positive word-of-mouth, theatres are anticipated to see increased footfall next week as well.

Written and directed by Christo Tomy, the Malayalam mystery thriller revolves around the themes of betrayal and its impact on familial bonds. The film follows the story of a family residing in Kuttanad, Kerala, who are forced to postpone the burial of a close member due to heavy rains and flooding. Amidst this waiting period, numerous hidden truths and undisclosed secrets unravel, unsettling the very essence of the family's unity and trust.
Besides the lead cast, the movie also stars actors Shebin Benson, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Veena Nair, and Alencier Ley Lopez in pivotal roles. Interestingly, the director won the first prize for the script of Ullozhukku in a competition that had a jury including Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani. The makers of the film wrapped up shooting in 2022.
