Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke takes off on Day 3, crosses Rs 20 crore in first weekend

Filmmaker Laxman Utekar’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke starring Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal witnessed 37.5 per cent growth on Day 3 (Sunday). The film, which had a decent opening collection of Rs 5.49 crore, showed major footfalls on the weekend. The film has recorded an impressive earning of Rs 9.90 crore, taking the total collection to Rs 22.59 crore.

On Monday, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ZaraHatkeZaraBachke swims to the winning post, goes from strength to strength in Weekend 1… National chains excellent, mass pockets join the party on Day 3… All eyes on the make-or-break Mon… Fri 5.49 cr, Sat 7.20 cr, Sun 9.90 cr. Total: ₹ 22.59 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice.” He also added, “Let’s get one thing straight… #ZaraHatkeZaraBachke *has* found acceptance by the movie-going audience… Sure, the Buy-1-Get-1 [#BOGO] free ticket offer has given its biz the required push, but this incentive is not solely responsible for magnetising moviegoers to cinemas… If a film faces rejection, no incentive or concession can rescue or salvage it from sinking at the #BO.”

On Sunday, Sara shared her happy mood with her co-star Vicky on Instagram after the positive response to their movie. “Somya aur Kappu ka weekend mood. Thank you all, for all the love. #ZaraHatkeZaraBachke out now!” The film revolves around a happily married couple, Saumya and Kapil, who wants to buy their own house to get rid of their joint family. Besides them, the film also has Himanshu Kohli, Rakesh Bedi, Sharib Hashmi, Meghna Agarwal and Inaamulhaq among others in supporting roles. Backed by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, the film was released on June 2, 2023, in theatres.

The DesiMartini gave two and a half stars to the movie and wrote, “Vicky and Sara have scored in their on-screen performances and ensured that portrayal of their roles doesn’t look too over-the-top as is a prospect in rom-coms. Vicky’s lawyer friend Himanshu as Manoj Bhaiya adds a fresh comic tadka as and when the film’s momentum seems to be dropping, especially in courtroom scenes. Most characters, especially Vicky, churn out the Indori accent and slang with ease. Good to note that most jokes, in different levels of coolness, find a safe landing.”
