One of the most anticipated movies of 2023 is director Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Thalapthy 67', the third entry of the hugely popular Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).

While there has been much speculation on what the title of the movie will be we finally have an answer today as the director finally revealed the title of the project will be ' Leo ' along with the first look teaser for the upcoming action flick.

The tile was revealed in the first look teaser for the movie and is similar to the teaser we got for Kamal Haassan's Vikram.

In the teaser, we can see Vijay in a cabin in the mountains, the scenes then intercut between the actor in a bakery making chocolates and in blacksmiths forging a sword all while a large group arrives to fight him.

Just like the teaser of Vikram didn't have much of a connection with the plot of the movie, it is safe to say the same about the teaser of Leo as well.

The movie is produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy under the banner Seven Screen Studio.

The cinematography will be handled by Manoj Paramahamsa. The movie will be edited by Philomin Raj who worked on the previous entries of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

Trisha Krishnan has been cast as the female lead in the movie opposite Vijay. Leo will see Vijay and Trisha reunite after a gap of 15 years, their last movie together was the 2008 action movie Kuruvi.

This movie will also mark their fifth collaboration after Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi, and Kuruvi, three of which have been massive box-office successes.

The cast of the movie includes Vijay, Trisha, Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Manobala, and Janany Kunaseelan.

The OTT rights for the movie have been secured by Netflix, for a whopping 150 crores.

Lokesh Kanakaraj has announced three other installments set in the Lokesh cinematic universe, they are Which are Kaithi 2 starring Karthi, Vikram 2 starring Kamaal Hassan, and finally, a spinoff of Vikram focusing on Rolex played by Suriya, who had a cameo at the end of the movie.

While we do know the main cast of the movie, there is a strong possibility that the movie will have cameos from actors like Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, and Fahadh Faasil.

The movie will be the third installment in the franchise following 2019's Kaithi which starred Karthi and 2022s Vikram which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.

The franchise has grossed around 530 crores at the box office. Leo also marks the second collaboration between Lokesh and Vijay after 2021's Master.

While plot details remain under wraps there is a rumor saying that the movie will be based on the 2005 Hollywood action movie 'A History of Violence'.

Leo will hit theaters worldwide on 20 October 2023.
