When Mahesh Mathai announced of roping in fresh pair Aamir Khan and Priyanka Chopra for Salute, fans of both the actors jumped for joy. They were excited to see both the actors together for the first time. Salute is a biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma, who was the first Indian to fly into space.

There were rumours that Priyanka will play Aamir’s wife in the film. But, looks like that there is time before you can see the two talented actors working together. According to reports, Mr. Perfectionist has walked out of the project due to disagreements between him and the creative team. Also, there are reports that the 3 Idiots actor was not happy with the script.

Aamir was supposed to start shooting for the flick after wrapping up Thugs of Hindostan. The makers were aiming for an Independence Day release. In an interview when Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra was asked about the actress starting in Salute, she said, "I am the last person to know about it. Rumours mat phailaao yaar! (Don't spread rumours). This has not reached my ears."

Salute is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur. The movie was earlier titled Saare Jahan Se Achcha, as a tribute to Rakesh Sharma’s famous line which he spoke when he described India from the space.
