Adah Sharma: I was told to do my hair a certain way because someone successful did...

Actor Adah Sharma, who was last seen in Commando 2, says that she received a lot of unwanted advice from people when she entered the film industry. “There are people who want to change you and make you into a stereotype of someone who is successful. So they will tell you to make your hair in a certain way because someone else (who is successful does it) has a particular hairstyle or not wear something because someone else doesn’t wear it. I feel it’s important to be confident about who you are,” says Adah, who made her Bollywood debut with the film 1920 (2008).

The 27-year-old says she loves being part of the industry because of the love she has received from her fans. “If you like what you are doing, then everything is worth it. When a movie releases, the audience loves you equally. They don’t care whose daughter or son you are. With social media, you know it (their reaction to your work) directly. It makes me happy,” says Adah.

The actor has been seen in films such as Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke (2013) and Hasee Toh Phasee (2014) besides Telugu projects. “My first film was a horror movie and many people told me not to start with horror. But I got to do a role where I could perform. Sometimes actors don’t get to do that in their entire career. In south, I started with Puri Jagannadh’s movie, who is like the Karan Johar of south. I made my mark instantly with the first film. I think it all depends on the role that you get,” says Adah.
