Of late, many actors such as Twinkle Khanna and Taapsee Pannu have spoken about sexual harassment at work. Now, actor Aditi Rao Hydari says that she, too, has seen it happen in the film industry. “There are degrees of it (in the film industry). In subtle ways, we have all encountered it. I guess I am blessed that I have been able to walk away from that kind of situation and it has not affected me too much. I have cried about it for a day or two, but I can live with that. I need to work with people who value me for who I am and for the talent I bring to the table,” she says, adding, “It happens every where...on the street, in a house. Sexual politics happens all around us. Sadly, that is the mindset of people and it should change.”

I guess I am blessed that I have been able to walk away from that kind of situation and it has not affected me too much. I have cried about it for a day or two, but I can live with that.

Aditi says she has been able to get through these situations because of the support from her family. “There was always a secure environment. But I know that everyone cannot deal with it (in this way),” she says.

She also says that these situations are made worse for the victim once they come out in the open. “People are so judgmental. That should not be the case. The person who is the propositioner or who is using their power to make the girl uncomfortable, they are the ones who are at fault,” she says.
