Following the news of Salman Khan being appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for the Indian contingent at the Rio Olympics 2016, several sports personalities have come forward and voiced their thoughts against this decision. Recently, Milkha Singh also stated that there are several athletes who could have been appointed for the position. Now, it looks like Salman’s got some backing as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has supported the actor for his appointment.

The Sarbjit actress shared, “Anybody who is doing good to represent the country and anybody who is working or seeking or standing out for whatever vocation we have in the country be it sports, arts or music, I think that's wonderful and needs to be recognised”. Earlier, IOA vice-president Tarlochan Singh also defended the organization’s decision by saying, “We're getting his (Salman Khan) help and not giving him anything. IOA is not paying him a penny”.

He also added that the youth is captivated by the attachment of a famous celebrity and this gives more popularity to sports. On the work front, Salman has been busy with his film ‘Sultan’ which will be released on July 6. The movie has been directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Anushka Sharma and Randeep Hooda.
