    Bollywood has been invited as the guest country at the 66th Cannes Film Festival this year and this is a great honour for all Indians. Bollywood personalities like Aishwarya Rai and Sonam Kapoor along with Freida Pinto will represent India this year as they walk down the red carpet sporting Bollywood-inspired looks.

    The three brand ambassadors of L'Oreal Paris will join the festival marking 100 years of Indian Cinema and will walk down the carpet with a collection of Bollywood make-up as a tribute to the 100 years of Indian excellence. This will be the 12thconsecutive year for Ash to appear at the Cannes Film Festival in person and she has also received an invitation to attend a special evening celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. Ash who will be present at the event on May 19 and 20, stated, "It is great to see the Indian film industry being celebrated and honoured on the occasion of its 100th anniversary at an internationally respected platform like the Cannes Film Festival. This truly signifies the impact made by India on world cinema.”

    Sonam will make her third appearance at Cannes and she will also be present at the opening ceremony on May 15. She stated, "This is the first time I will be part of the opening ceremony and I am extremely excited. Cannes is celebrating Indian Cinema this year and I have never been more proud to be a part of this creative industry. I hope that the Bollywood inspired makeup looks we don this year at Cannes will make global style statements.” The Slumdog Millionaire star Pinto who will accompany Sonam on the red carpet stated, "I am very glad to see that India is getting a lot of recognition at global platforms such as Cannes. Indian Cinema has come a long way and is making a tremendous impact internationally and the new and young crop of indie and alternative filmmakers are definitely game changers to watch out for.”
