After spending 15 days in London for the ‘Rustom’ shoot, Akshay Kumar was detained at the Heathrow Airport for not having a valid visa. Mumbai Mirror stated that the actor was made to sit in the general holding area where people, supposed fans of Akshay, started clicking pictures. He was in London with his personal trainer and spent more than an hour and a half (7 a.m. to 8.45 a.m.) in the holding area.

The reason for the detainment was that the actor did not have the necessary visa stamp on his passport. Sources also stated that to avoid the unwanted attention he was getting, Akshay asked to be transferred to a private holding area. The officials had to deny his request as the airport did not have a private area for this purpose. When the 48-year-old actor was asked about the incident, he denied it and stated that he had no problem at the airport.

‘Rustom’ is being directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and Akshay plays the role of a naval officer. The cast also includes Esha Gupta and Ileana D'Cruz and the film is set in the 1950s. The plot takes some inspiration from the 1951 Nanavati case.
