“It’s ridiculous that women are treated as untouchables." - Akshay Kumar Talks About Menstruation!

Akshay Kumar is one of the actors who are here to experiment with different genres and scripts. His choices of films are now different and is now all set to challenge the social and orthodox norms. Akshay’s last film was Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which was a satirical comedy to improve the sanitation conditions, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in rural areas.

The actor is now back in action with his next release, Padman , which talks about menstruation. Menstruation is still a taboo in the country and sanitary napkins are a luxury which many can’t afford. Talking about the film, the actor said, “It’s ridiculous that women are treated as untouchables. Men sarcastically inform others ‘Hey, these women are having a Test Match (since the game lasts for five days too). So they shouldn’t be allowed near gods’ idols”.

He added, “And they’re treated as if they’re outsiders. They’re made to sleep in the verandas. It’s a natural phenomenon and its high time menstruating women are allowed to move around freely. They shouldn’t be subjected to this untouchability in any situation”.

Well, with these kinds of films coming up, we are sure that Bollywood is in safe hands.
