Alia Bhatt Roped In For Meghna Gulzar’s Next

Alia Bhatt entered Bollywood with Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’ playing the role of a whippersnapper. Since then, she has climbed up the ladder doing various challenging roles. Be it ‘Udta Punjab’ or ‘Dear Zindagi’, Alia has aced the acting spree. Adding to her stock of taxing roles, the 24-year-old actress has given a green signal to Meghna Gulzar’s next. 

The project had made Alia a little sceptical initially as it is based on the strained situation of Kashmir. "It was a dilemma for Alia, as the subject is controversial. But then again, as Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter, you learn to take the controversies in your stride", reported a source to a leading daily. It was her father Mahesh Bhatt, who had convinced the actress to go forward with the film. "He convinced her that doing an occasional social issue-based subject along with her mainstream films was the right career move. Bhattsaab himself churned out an Arth with a Duplicate. Following her father’s footsteps, Alia has done a hard-hitting Udta Punjab along with Badrinath Ki Dulhania, as well as a Student Of The Year withDear Zindagi. Meghna’s film will be her next benchmark", added the source.
