Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan to reunite on the big screen after sixteen years

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan last starred together in filmmaker Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Sixteen years later, the golden couple of Bollywood will once again reunite for a film. As per reports, they will be seen playing an aged married couple in filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s next.

“It’s the story of a couple married for 40 years, and now sharing old age together. Both of them are approaching their end. Their fear is not death. Their fear is, what happens if either goes before the other?” DNA quoted a source as saying.

Reports are also doing the rounds that Shoojit, who earlier directed Amitabh in Piku (2015) and also produced Pink (2016), was very keen on making a film with them and had narrated a story to Amitabh and Jaya around three to four years ago, however they didn’t seem much impressed back then.

Although Amitabh and Jaya have been seen in special appearances in films such as R Balki’s Ki & Ka (2016) and Deepak Sawant’s Bhojpuri film, Ganga Devi (2012), they haven’t played full-fledged roles together in a film, since the last sixteen years. Earlier, the two have been seen in films such as Chupke Chupke (1972), Abhimaan (1973) and Silsila (1981).
